She Freelances is an open, filterable directory of creative freelancers in the DC area who identify as female and/or non-binary. The directory’s goal is to make it easy for organizations, agencies and entrepreneurs alike to find the marketing and communications support they need.
She Freelances is only a piece in creating an ecosystem of empowerment and equality for women by giving hiring parties access to a directory of experienced professionals charging equal rates as male counterparts. If hiring parties make a deliberate, conscious choice to pay these freelancers at the same rate as men, we will begin to close the gender gap among creative professionals.
The shes at She Freelances include women, trans and non-binary freelancers.
She is guided by the freelance community.
She Freelances was inspired by the Freelance DC community and created by Becca Gurney, a freelance designer and founder of Design Choice a small design studio in Washington, DC. Bunny Blake brought the idea to reality by developing the website.
